As a key member of the senior executive management team since 1997, Mr. Bowler is responsible for all finance functions (capital management, financial reporting, accounting, treasury, tax, audit, and financial planning/analysis) as well as acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic joint ventures. In addition, he provides guidance and leadership to Board and Senior Executive group around business strategy and execution. During his tenure with USI, the Company transformed from a start-up insurance broker with less than $100 million in annual revenues to national insurance broker with annual revenues approaching $2.0 billion. During his 20 plus years with USI, the Company completed 250+ acquisitions, a $90 million dollar initial public offering of common stock in 2002, a $165 million dollar secondary offering of common stock in 2004, a $1.4 billion dollar value go-private transaction with Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in 2007, a $2.4 billion dollar value private equity to private equity transaction in 2012 from Goldman Sachs Capital Partners to Onex, and a $4.4 billion dollar value private equity to private equity transaction in 2017 from Onex to KKR / CDPQ.


Prior to joining USI in 1997, Mr. Bowler was Chief Financial Officer of Acordia of California (now Wells Fargo Insurance). In addition, Mr. Bowler was a member of three Boards of Directors within the Acordia family of companies: Pennsylvania, Louisville, and Arizona. He became part of the Acordia management team in 1993 when Acordia acquired American Business Insurance (ABI). Mr. Bowler was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ABI where he was responsible for a wide span of financial, operational, and administrative functions.


Prior to joining ABI in 1988, Mr. Bowler held increasingly responsible financial management positions with Genstar Corporation (at the time a $4 billion revenue, NYSE company), including a position in its strategic planning and development unit. Prior to Genstar, he was with Arthur Andersen & Co. from 1979 to 1983.


Mr. Bowler is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPA’s. Mr. Bowler received his Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude in Business Administration from the California State University at Humboldt in 1979.
